Kings Village Waikiki

King’s Village is a unique shopping center located near the heart of Waikiki. Cobblestone paths and creative walkways create a unique shopping atmosphere. The shopping center doesn’t seem to flow well with the overall theme of Waikiki, but that’s what seems to make it interesting. There are a ton of unique shops (there are over 45 I believe) in the shopping center and a few select restaurants as well.

The theme of the shopping center is a historic revival of a Waikiki of the past. It has colonial influences and the architecture feels a bit like being in the Carribean.

Changing of the King’s Guard

Each night at 6:15 p.m. there is a ceremonial changing of the king’s guard which is something you won’t see anywhere else on the island. Rifleman wearing exact replica apparel worn by the Hawaiian Royal Palace Guards for King Kalakaua in 1875 perform a changing of the guard and retiring of the Hawaiian Flag. Usually if you show up 15 minutes before the ceremony you shouldn’t have an issue getting the front row.

Check out the images below of the changing of the guard.

While shopping at King’s Village, visit Waikiki’s version of Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame.” The King’s Village “Celebrity Circle” displays the handprints of many of Hawaii’s best-loved celebrities as well as a few nationally known ones.

King’s Village Waikiki is open from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily, located at 131 Kaiulani Avenue, adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. There is also free public parking below the structure with the entrance on the south side of the shopping center, which would be Koa Ave.
