Top 10 Things to do in Waikiki

I’m sure you’ve heard of David Letterman and his famous top 10 list. Each night he provides a top 10 funniest things about a certain topic of the evening.

Well if the topic was Top 10 Things to do in Waikiki this would be the list that everyone would agree with.

So without further ado… here’s the top 10 things to do in Waikiki.

1. Go to the Beach… Duh! – You’ve flown (or boated) hundreds of miles to see the beauty of Waikiki. Why not just sit on the beach a little while and soak up the sun?

2. Hike Diamond Head
It’s not technically in Waikiki, but it’s walkable and when sitting on Waikiki Beach you can miss it. When you’re looking at the ocean simply turn your head left and you’ll see a huge volcano crater! Diamond head is popular because you can walk through the inactive volcanic crater, catch sweeping views of Waikiki and get a great workout all at the same time! If you’ve never been to Waikiki this is a must.

3. Go Surfing – There are a plethora of locals willing to take you for a surfing lesson (if you open your wallet of course). If you’ve never surfed in your life Waikiki is the place to do it… no excuses, you’ve gotta try it.

4. Catch a Luau – There are a few luau options on the island, most will actually be out of Waikiki, but either way, it’s still making out top ten list.

5. Shop til you drop
You could spend your whole vacation shopping in the Waikiki area. There are hundreds, if not thousands of shops and stores in the Waikiki and nearby Honolulu areas.

6. Explore Hawaiian Food and Drink
You will not be disappointed by the food in Waikiki. From traditional Hawaiian to Asian infusion the Waikiki area is a melting pot of mouthwatering dishes. When visiting Waikiki be sure to enjoy an authentic meal.

7. Pay Tribute and Snap a Photo with Duke – The statue of Duke Kahanamoku is a lasting tribute to the history of the Waikiki area. His statue is located near the center of the Waikiki just along Kalakaua ave.

8. Hit up the Waikiki Nightlife – There are a slew of nightclubs and bars that you can explore once the sun goes down. Most of these will be along Kuhio ave.

9. View Waikiki by Air or Sea – Catch a Helicopter ride to view Waikiki from above or a Dinner Cruise to see Waikiki as the Sunsets from a Mile out!

10. Scuba dive – Just steps from Waikiki are wrecks and a whole new underwater world. If you’ve never gone scuba diving you should probably at least try it while you’re in Hawaii!
