Waikiki Transportation

You’ve got your pick when getting around Waikiki. The Waikiki area is walkable, but you’ll be offered a ton of different options. Considering the weather it’s not uncommon for people to ride moped, drive around in convertibles, or simply jump on a bike to get around.

Mopeds

Vroom vroom… mopeds are everyone on this island so be careful when driving on the streets.

Mopeds are a cheap way for college students and young explorers to get around without owning a car. They’re also great when visiting the island.

Bicycles

Waikiki isn’t exactly bicycle friendly. The weather is nice enough to get around the area with, but you aren’t allowed to ride your bike on any Waikiki sidewalk. You’ll have to ride on the street, but once you’re out of Waikiki you can get back on the sidewalk.

The Bus

Simply known as “the bus” the Waikiki public transit system is great. Busses run 24/7 on the island and you can literally go around the whole island of Oahu riding the bus.

Trolley

There are a ton of Trollys around the Waikiki area. They cart tourists around the island have an open air theme unlike the bus so it makes for better sight seeing.

DuneBuggy

Want a creative way to get around the island? Rent a dunebuggy for a unique island driving experience.

They’re based from VW frames and are fuel efficient so you won’t break the bank in gas costs. They also come with a soft cover just in case it rains.

Although they look pretty sweet I’m not sure if you can do any real dune buggying with them since there really aren’t many dunes on the island.
